The Government of Niue has officially launched the Niue ASYHUB Post-CDS Project, marking a major step forward in the country’s efforts to modernise customs operations and strengthen digital trade. Fully aligned with the Niue Digital Strategy 2024–2030, this initiative enhances efficiency, data accuracy, and border security while supporting Niue’s transition into a more connected and competitive digital economy.

The project is made possible through the support of the Government of Australia, facilitated by the Australian High Commission in Niue and implemented in partnership with UNCTAD. The Government of Niue extends its appreciation for this collaboration, which reflects a shared commitment to trade facilitation and digital transformation across the Pacific.

The ASYHUB Post-CDS interface responds to the increasing demands of cross-border e-commerce by enabling seamless electronic data exchange between Niue Customs and the Niue Post Office. This will reduce clearance times, lower costs for consumers and local businesses, and enhance overall security and revenue collection.

Representatives speaking at the launch highlighted the importance of the project for Niue’s future, acknowledging the contributions of the Niue Customs team, the Niue Post Office, UNCTAD experts, DFAT, and private sector partners. They noted that the project will streamline postal and customs processes, strengthen border control, and align Niue with international best practices, including cooperation with the Universal Postal Union.

Acting Prime Minister of Niue and Minister for Finance, Hon. Crossley Tatui commended the partnership and reaffirmed Niue’s commitment to advancing digital transformation. “This project represents our continued journey toward smarter borders, stronger economic systems, and greater opportunity for our people. We thank the Government of Australia, UNCTAD, and all our partners for supporting Niue as we modernise and prepare for the future.”

This initiative directly supports Niue’s National Strategic Plan by strengthening key infrastructure under Pillar 3. The launch also highlighted four core objectives: commencing implementation of the ASYHUB Post-CDS Project, acknowledging Australia’s partnership and Niue’s leadership in digital innovation, raising awareness among government, private sector, and regional stakeholders about the benefits of ASYHUB, and strengthening collaboration between DFAT, UNCTAD, UPU, Niue Customs, and the Niue Post Office.

The ASYHUB Post-CDS Project lays the foundation for smarter, more efficient borders and contributes to a resilient, modern economic system that supports Niue’s long-term growth.
