The Niue Public Service Commission hereby invites applications for the following vacancies within the following departments.

MINISTRY OF INFRASTRUCTURE

DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORT

MECHANICAL SUPERVISOR

The Mechanical Supervisor is responsible for managing the operations of the Heavy Plant Mechanical Division and the maintenance of necessary heavy machinery and infrastructure required to serve the development needs of all Services. The Mechanical Supervisor shall oversee and undertake the appropriate diagnosis and repair of all government heavy machinery.

INFRASTRUCTURE OFFICER 

The Infrastructure Officer (IO) is responsible to the Head of Corporate Services and works to support the Divisional Heads and Director of Transport, to achieve the goals of the Department of Transport by overseeing the on-going maintenance repair or/and timely replacement of specific key Government Heavy Plant and Machinery. The IO works to ensure that these key assets, heavy plant and machinery are; appropriately maintained to ensure operational viability; are fully compliant with designated scheduled maintenance programs; essential spares, spare parts, lubricants or service kits required are stocked or readily available for use in the most timely and cost effective manner which are consistent with the Department of Finance and Planning’s procurement policies; appropriate machine operation logs and maintenance service records are regularly updated, summarised and distributed to senior management for assessment, analysis and direction whether asset should be repaired or replaced; and to ensure that all health and safety requirements are fully understood and complied with by operators.

CENTRAL AGENCIES

CABINET & LEGISLATIVE (EXTERNAL AFFAIRS)

SENIOR EXTERNAL AFFAIRS OFFICER (Temporary, 2 years)

The Senior External Affairs Officer is responsible for the provision of administrative support and advice in all matters pertaining to Foreign Affairs, Foreign policy, Bilateral, regional and international diplomatic relationships with donor partners or agencies. 

Responsibilities include the compilation and publishing of the Niue Government white paper on External Affairs; the provision of timely and critical assessment of regional and international issues which poses implications for Niue and possible recommendations on the appropriate response by the Government; to obtain and document regular updates from  the Niue High Commission  Office in Wellington on matters pertinent to the Niue – New Zealand relationship; and the provision of effective and efficient VIP Protocol services when required as well as the necessary logistical support for all visiting Government, Regional or International Agency Officials.

EXTERNAL AFFAIRS OFFICER (Permanent)

The External Affairs Officer is responsible to the Senior External Affairs Officer and the Head of External Affairs for the provision of administrative support and advice in all matters pertaining to Foreign Affairs, Foreign policy, Bilateral, regional and international diplomatic relationships with donor partners or agencies.
