The Government of Niue is deeply saddened by the passing of the Honourable Sani Lakatani, former Premier of Niue.

On behalf of the Government and the people of Niue, the Prime Minister extends heartfelt condolences to his family, his loved ones, and all who feel his loss across our nation.

Hon. Sani Lakatani served as Premier from 1999 to 2002 and was a prominent figure in Niuean politics for more than a decade, including his leadership of the Niue People’s Party.

Prime Minister Hon, Dalton Tagelagi expressed his deepest condolences, “We honour his service and his commitment to our people. A leader who guided our country with conviction and a deep sense of duty. His dedication to advancing Niue’s interests have left a lasting legacy.”

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.

May he rest in peace, and may his contributions continue to inspire future generations of Niuean leaders.”
