Tāoga Niue announces that, as of 16 December 2025, the term of service for the Chairperson and members of the Vagahau Niue Commission has concluded.

Tāoga Niue warmly welcomes the newly appointed Chairperson and Commission members who will lead the ongoing work to strengthen and promote Vagahau Niue.

Tāoga Niue extends its sincere appreciation to Ms Tifaole Ioane, who has completed her term as Chairperson of the Vagahau Niue Commission, along with Commission members Mrs Moka Tano and Reverend Navy Salatielu, whose terms have also come to an end.

During their tenure, the outgoing Chairperson and members provided committed leadership and guidance in advancing the protection, promotion, and strengthening of Vagahau Niue. Their contributions have supported national efforts in language revitalisation, intergenerational transmission, and the safeguarding of Niue’s linguistic heritage. Tāoga Niue acknowledges their service and thanks them for their dedication and valuable contributions.

Tāoga Niue is pleased to announce the appointment of Reverend Dr Matagi Vilitama as the new Chairperson of the Vagahau Niue Commission. Joining him as new Commission members are Mrs Showena Tanaki Aue and Mrs Mele Nemaia.

The new Chairperson and members bring with them a wealth of experience, knowledge, and commitment to the Niuean language, culture, and community. Tāoga Niue looks forward to working closely with the new Commission as it continues to guide national efforts to strengthen the use of Vagahau Niue across education, community life, government, and the diaspora.

Tāoga Niue remains committed to ensuring strong governance, continuity, and leadership in
the work of the Vagahau Niue Commission for the benefit of present and future generations.
