The Non-Resident Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines to Niue, Her Excellency Kira Christianne D. Azucena presented her Letter of Credentials to the Premier of Niue, Hon. Dalton Tagelagi, and Cabinet on the 18th June 2024. This occasion strengthens the ties between the Philippines and Niue, further promoting friendly relations and shared aspirations between the two countries.

The Republic of the Philippines and the Government of Niue officially established diplomatic relations with the signing of a Joint Communiqué on the 27th September 2022. Before this formal establishment, the Philippines and Niue primarily engaged through the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF), where the Philippines participated as a dialogue partner.

Ambassador Azucena has held numerous high-level positions in both domestic and international spheres with a focus on foreign affairs and diplomatic relations. She expressed her enthusiasm for future collaboration and highlighted the contributions of Filipino migrant workers in various professional fields in Niue.

"We look forward to the celebration of the Constitution Day of the Government of Niue on 19 October 2024. The Philippines anticipates the expansion of our Government and Business partnerships to address mutual interests in the politico-security and socio-economic spheres. The Republic of the Philippines is keen to work with the Government of Niue on capacity-building efforts to help address existing and future challenges" said Ambassador Kira Azucena.
